The Campaign

Ball State’s Center for Emerging Media Design and Development students developed the campaign for the Match Point Documentary.

About the Transmedia Campaign

Match Point is not just a documentary. It is an organized, transmedia effort to bring awareness to the sport of men’s volleyball in the United States of America. The “Match Point” campaign features a website, social media presence, blog, podcast and a volleyball gaming app (“Match Point: The Game” coming soon).

These channels of communication will be used to give people access to the sport of boys’ and men’s volleyball like never before. Original content will be sent out through these channels to give sports fans access to interviews with the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team, unique volleyball stories, and insight into the dynamic and powerful nature of the game.

This transmedia campaign is being organized and implemented by graduate students from The Center for Emerging Media Design & Development at Ball State University.

About the Department of Journalism and the Center for EMDD

The Center for Emerging Media Design & Development believes in the power of human-centered design and storytelling to solve big problems. They bring together journalists, computer scientists, artists, writers, designers and programmers to tackle real-world problems using technology and digital media solutions. The Center for EMDD provides a holistic learning environment where students learn the skills required to succeed in the 21st-century marketplace and apply those skills through hands-on experiences with project partners. Everything they do connects to three areas of focus: design thinking, human-computer interaction and transmedia storytelling.

The Department of Journalism at Ball State University is a supportive community of faculty, staff and students driven to pursue knowledge and share truth that spurs progress and adds value to our world. They balance theory and application through rigorous classroom instruction paired with real-world learning and student media and agency opportunities. Faculty mentors and industry leaders guide this immersive approach that empowers students to tell multimedia stories across platforms, develop interactive designs and innovate strategic campaigns.
